| Here he is... "Little Brother" |
So.... while I am sitting on my hands waiting for news, I thought I would share some photos from the baby shower we threw for the new momma a few weeks ago. I threw her baby shower the first time around, but this time it was truely a group effort. I joined late in the game, but got to do some pretty fun stuff. The only real "theme" was the color scheme... green, blue, and yellow but we had originally used this preppy little man baby shower as inspiration, so I went back to that for my part of it- stealing the preppy patterns, and bow ties :)
I have loved reusing the drinking jars that I made for Sierra's bridal shower last summer, and retrofitted them this time with little bow ties. I also made a few bow-tie-toppers for the cupcakes. Monica went all out and got an assortment of truffles from Chocolate Maya in Santa Barbara for favors, so I whipped up some "sour cream containers" to wrap them in. (It seriously took me like an hour to find a tutorial for how to make these little containers... mostly due to the fact that I had no idea they were called sour cream containers.) I don't have all the fancy crimpers and what not that most of the tutorials call for, and I wasn't going to be able to stuff them ahead of time, so I just made the cylinders, and used my sewing machine to stitch the bottom closed. Then I punched a few holes and tied the tops with ribbon once I got there the morning of the shower. I also made some matching bunting flags for decoration, but I didn't get a photo of those.

We did a really fun activity as well... Monica picked out a few fabrics that matched the intended decor, and made up enough bunting flags for everyone at the shower. She backed them in a light, solid fabric. Then at the shower, everyone wrote a note for the baby & momma or a scripture verse, or the like on the back, and decorated it with stamps (using a fabric ink pad... I can not tell you how obsessed I am with these right now- the image literally comes out clearer on fabric than on paper). That way (when they do finally decide on a name) they can add the name to the front, and hang all the well wishes in the babies room.
Now.... back to waiting!
***Update: She had a beautiful birth (I've heard... can't wait to hear it from her!) and they named him Beckett Christopher. Love it!
